Design Process
Thinking along the lines of bar-carts, and their proudly prominent display of fine liquors, lead the concept for creating a home-base for the Heir product line. A key goal of the project was for the design to encompass the roll-your-own experience alongside using Heir pipes. Journey mapping these two experiences helped define high level objectives for each mode of use, which fed into ideation and ideation phase of looking at hybrid storage-tray concepts.
3D prints of the consecutive design configurations were put to use daily, noted for strengths/weakness/opportunities, then updated back into a new iteration. Early on, the definition of the design moved from lidded-storage box ideas to an open tray system. The star of the experience is the flower, which I wanted to elevate in it's display. A particular challenge in making the set - working with multiple material manufacturer's to achieve a snug fit and finish between not just each product's parts, but the rest of the products in the entire set.
Roller Approved
When put to the test, the Rolling Kit was praised for turning a formerly chaotic mess of tools into an organized and efficient setup.
Grind & Store
Medium jars to hold whole flower, small jars to hold ground flower, and a Grinder nest snugly together into the tray, making them easy to move from place to place. Jars are designed to stand on their cap to showcase what's inside more clearly, and can attach to the Grinder's base for direct grinding into them.
Stacking Trays
One for Grinder and Jars, another for papers, crutches, lighters, and joints nested below it, and a large tray to catch everything else. Each is designed to make transferring herb easier, with curved inner walls that help to scoop herb up against the side and radiused corners to pour from.
Papers & Crutch Cards
Made with 100% Organic American Grown Hemp, sourced locally in Oregon. Crutches are placed at the mouth-end of a joint to stop herb from falling through, and are made with perforations that make folding them into the perfect M-shape easy.
Scoop Card
Useful to transfer herb from the tray to the rolling paper. Weeds graphic shown here one of several collectible designs found in each pack.
Toker Kit
Poker and Flat Tools help with every step - use them to pack herb down, fold/cut the paper, and pinch them together to make a roach clip. The Lighter Sheath holds a Bic Mini lighter, and Leather Lanyard has a knot that unties to allow removing/adding accessories to it.
Ashtray
Amply sized to hold many sessions worth of ash, with a lid that covers the smell and holds accessories on top.
